The Process to getting your very own custom Happy Kiwi Pet Portrait
The process begins with an initial consultation via email to explore your vision for your pet portrait. Here we can discuss the details of which furry friend you would like us to paint or draw and what size you would like. It will be useful to see any photographs that you would like us to work from so that we can establish if they are suitable. We can then provide you with a costing, this will exclude postage and packaging which will need to be calculated later. We generally estimate an average time of 8 weeks for oil paintings due to the nature of the painting needing to dry between layers and 3 weeks for drawings for us to complete the artwork. The complexity and number of pets in the artwork will also effect the time it will take us to produce the work This is dependent on our current workload. We can give you a better idea in the email consultation.

If you are happy and would like to proceed, we will then send you an invoice for 50% of the cost. This is required before the painting or drawing begins.
When we have completed your painting or drawing we will send you an image of it via email for you to approve. We will then send you an invoice for the remaining 50% payment with the addition of postage and packaging before the piece can be shipped.
Things to consider when commissioning a painting.
Our artist works directly from your photo references, and so when you are supplying your photos please bear in mind that high quality photographs with good lighting, composition and that are in focus will allow us to create artwork to a much higher quality and level of detail than a poor quality photograph. That being said, if you only have low level quality of photographs of your beloved furry friend, we can sometimes work around this, depending on the individual image.
How much does it cost?
Prices are calculated depending on the time it will take for us at The Happy Kiwi to create your artwork. Please see the price list and know that is this the price based on having one pet in the artwork and for a simple background.
If your image is particularly complex the price may be higher to account for the extra time it will take to complete the work.
If you would like to add more pets this is calculated based on an additional 20% charge per extra animal.
If you would like to add a more complex background, this will also be an extra charge, depending on the complexity of the chosen image.

Postage and packaging is calculated once we have established the type and size of artwork you would like and where we are sending it to.
Please note that drawings will be posted rolled in a postal tube in ensure maximum protection for transporting your artwork.
